Daniël Kolf won Theo d’Or on Sunday Evening for his Leading Role in the Play the Death of Benny Simons , by the Theater Company Orkater. Julia Ghysels won for her supporting role in Holly Goosebumps by the southern theater.
Theo d’Or is The Most Important Dutch Theater Prize. The Jury Has Awarded Kolf as the Best Theater Actor of the Year for his “Powerful and Poignant Leading Role”. His performance is “Layered, Natural and Always Believable”.
Accordance to the jury, Ghysels is the “Absolute stand-out” or Holly Goosebumps and Therefore Receives The Prize for the Most Impressive Acting Performance in a Contributing Role. The piece is described as a “hallucinatory meta-myth that is as witty as it is smart”.
The Award for the Most Groundbreaking Stage Performance was presented to the ensemble of the performance [Meeuw] , from Toneelhuis, Olympique Dramatique and Theater Arsenaal. “Exceptional what they achieve as a group of players,” the jury says about the ensemble.
