Quinten Post and Jesse Edwards can continue their debut season in the NBA. The Dutch players have both signed new contracts. Post remains with the Golden State Warriors and Edwards receives the confidence of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In February, Post received a full NBA contract from the Warriors. It included an option to extend his contract by one year until mid-2026. The club from San Francisco has exercised that option this week.
It is no surprise that Post is allowed to stay with the Golden State Warriors. The 25-year-old from Amsterdam made a good impression in his first season in the NBA. The center debuted in the world’s largest basketball competition at the end of December and subsequently developed into a valued player off the bench for the Warriors.
Post played in 54 games, including the play-offs. In those games, he received an average of about fifteen minutes of playing time per game. Warriors coach Steve Kerr has repeatedly been positive about the Dutchman. “Quinten has been a very important player for us since the second half of the season,” he said during the play-offs.
The Warriors were eliminated in the second round of the play-offs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Edwards Stays Another Year with Timberwolves
Edwards debuted in March as the ninth Dutchman in the NBA for the Timberwolves. The 25-year-old from Amsterdam played in two games in March. In his debut season, he mainly played games for the Iowa Wolves training club in the G League.
The Timberwolves have confidence in Edwards’ development, as the club from Minnesota has extended the center’s contract by one season.
Unlike his good friend Post, Edwards does not have a full NBA contract. This means that he could also commute between the NBA and the G League, the training competition, next season. Edwards is hopeful that he will get more playing time opportunities in the NBA next season.
The new NBA season starts on October 21.
