The Public Prosecution Service demanded on Wednesday a ten-year prison sentence and compulsory detention order against a 43-year-old man from Amsterdam. The suspect allegedly contacted teenage boys online. He then allegedly drugged and abused them.
According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), the man has been guilty of sexually abusing vulnerable underage boys, making and distributing child pornography, and drug possession for eight years.
The man approached boys between the ages of thirteen and sixteen on (dating) apps and online, the OM writes. Four of them have been identified. The man allegedly specifically sought out boys who were struggling with their homosexuality. He treated them to parties, gifts, alcohol and drugs.
The suspect had large quantities of drugs in his home and gave this to the boys. According to the OM, they paid a high price for this. “The suspect asked for nothing, but subtly moved them to sex, unlimited sex,” says the public prosecutor.
The man recorded these moments on photo and video. He allegedly kept and shared these images with others. The police found more than 4,500 images on his computer, 2,600 of which were of the identified boys. The man had also downloaded child pornography.
OM believes that man will re-offend without treatment
“This case demonstrates the danger inherent in online contacts, especially when vulnerable young people are approached via social media or dating apps by adults with bad intentions,” says the OM.
The OM has therefore demanded a ten-year prison sentence and compulsory detention order. According to the OM, the latter is intended “to protect society against the high risk that the suspect will re-offend without intensive treatment.”
The court will pronounce judgment on July 8.
