Team boss Fred Vasseur has extended his expiring contract with Ferrari. The Frenchman is committed to the Italian racing stable in Formula 1 for the coming years.
Ferrari does not disclose for how long Vasseur has signed. The 57-year-old Frenchman has been team boss at Ferrari since the beginning of 2023. Previously, he was active at Alfa Romeo and Renault, among others.
“I am grateful for the trust that Ferrari has in me,” Vasseur said on Thursday on the Formula 1 team’s website. “This contract extension is also a signal that we must continue to make progress. We must continue to deliver.”
Ferrari director Benedetto Vigna says that Vasseur has played an important role in the organization over the past 2.5 years. “We share the same ambitions and expectations. This new contract symbolizes the confidence we have in Fred’s leadership.”
Ferrari finished third in the battle for the constructors’ title in 2023. Last year, the racing stable narrowly finished second behind McLaren. Currently, Ferrari is far behind the British team in the standings (248 to 516 points).
Since Vasseur’s arrival, Ferrari has achieved six victories in Formula 1. The team is still dry in 2025. A second place for Charles Leclerc at the Monaco Grand Prix has so far been the best result.
