Sydney Sweeney has gained over 14 kilograms for her role in a biopic about boxer Christy Martin. The actress tells W Magazine about the intensive preparation and physical changes she underwent for the film, which is expected to be released at the end of 2025.

“I loved it,” says Sweeney about her role. “I came on board to play Christy and trained for about 3.5 months. I started eating. I did an hour of strength training in the morning, about two hours of kickboxing in the afternoon, and another hour of strength training in the evening.”

The American actress wore brown contact lenses and a brown wig for the role. “My body was completely different. I no longer fit into my own clothes. I normally wear a size 26 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 28. My breasts got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy,” says Sweeney, who previously played leading roles in The White Lotus and Euphoria.

The film tells the life story of Christy Martin, who became known in the 1990s as one of the first boxers to put women’s boxing on the map. Filming has now been completed. The title of the film is not yet known.
