Singer Suzan Stortelder of the duo Suzan & Freek is pregnant with a boy. She announced this on Instagram on Sunday.
“We heard today that you are a boy, and that feels so special and right,” Stortelder writes. “A little Freek in my belly, that makes me very happy.”
She posted a photo of her pregnant belly and a set of clothes for the baby, along with a guitar. Her partner Freek Rikkerink also plays that instrument.
At the end of last month, it was announced that Freek has lung cancer and is terminally ill. At the same time, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child. Freek has now started life-prolonging medication.
The duo initially canceled all performances, but recently announced that they will still be playing at various festivals this summer.
Suzan & Freek broke through in 2019 with the hit single Als Het Avond Is. Since then, they have scored major hits with songs like Blauwe Dag, De Overkant, and Slapeloosheid. Earlier this month, the new single Batterij was released. In 2022, they won the Edison for best album with Dromen In Kleur.
The couple has been together for eighteen years. They got married at the end of 2023.
