Suspect of fatal shootings in Rotterdam also linked to stabbing incident

The man suspected of three murders in the IJsselmonde district of Rotterdam has also been linked to an earlier stabbing incident in the city through a DNA match. The public prosecutor announced this in the Rotterdam court on Tuesday.

Triple murder suspect Sendric S. allegedly stabbed someone in Mauritsstraat in Rotterdam last June. The victim was seriously injured. It remained unclear who had done it for a long time, until S. was arrested in January on suspicion of three murders in the IJsselmonde district and a DNA match was found.

Tuesday was another preliminary hearing in the case against S., who was not present. It will take some time before the case is dealt with substantively. In September, S. will be admitted to the Pieter Baan Center for examination.

S. is suspected of shooting three men dead in late December and early January. The victims were approached from behind and shot. It appears that the men were chosen at random.

The stabbing victim of June 12 last year also appears to have been chosen completely at random. The man had no idea who had attacked him. Ultimately, the victim’s blood was found on S.’s shoes.

The 24-year-old S. has confessed to everything.
