Street racers caught at 176 kilometers per hour during speed control in Tilburg

Police officers in Tilburg confiscated the driver’s licenses of four street racers on Monday evening. The drivers were simultaneously speeding past a speed control at speeds of up to 176 kilometers per hour.

The street racers were caught during a police check on Burgemeester Letschertweg, the Tilburg police reported on Instagram. They were driving between 165 and 176 kilometers per hour, while the maximum speed there is 80 kilometers per hour. “We rarely experience this,” the police write.

Officers pulled the street racers over to the side of the road. Three of the four turned out to be novice drivers: they had not had their driver’s license for five years yet. The four drivers are men aged 22 and 23 from Kaatsheuvel, Waalwijk, and Loon op Zand.

The men must take a mandatory course at the CBR (Dutch Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) on road safety and dangerous driving behavior. The public prosecutor will determine how long the men will lose their driver’s licenses.
