Sleeping Noor does not notice that huge cargo ship is almost ramming his house

A large container ship rammed the Norwegian coast near the city of Trondheim on Thursday. The ship narrowly missed the house of Johan Helberg, who was sleeping at the time.

The ship crashed into the coast of the village of Byneset and ran aground just meters from Helberg’s house, reports Norwegian broadcaster NRK.

There were sixteen people on board the cargo ship. No one was injured and no oil leaked from the ship.

Had the ship rammed the coast 5 meters further to the right, Helberg’s house would have been hit. “And then my house would look very different now,” the Norwegian dryly remarks.

Emergency services tried to get the ship loose and move it on Thursday, but without success. A new attempt will be made on Thursday evening when it is high tide and the water is therefore higher, local authorities report.

Helberg was Sleeping, But Didn’t Wake Up From The Bang

Helberg says he didn’t wake up when the cargo ship crashed into the coast, just meters from his house. Only when a neighbor rang his doorbell in panic did Helberg wake up. “That was pretty bizarre. When I looked out the window, I was looking at a huge ship’s bow.”

Despite the hard bang, the Norwegian suffered little damage. Only the heating didn’t work. “So we’ll probably be cold today,” Helberg said.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident. One suspect is reportedly being sought. The police cannot say exactly what he or she is suspected of.
