Showers and thunder this weekend, expected again next week

The weather will remain variable in the coming days, with showers and a chance of thunderstorms. It is cool for this time of year, although the sun will occasionally appear. From next week it will be sunnier.

The chance of showers is high throughout the country on Friday, but will vary considerably from place to place. There may also be thunderstorms inland, says meteorologist Floris Lafeber of Weerplaza to NU.nl.

The weekend will remain variable. On Saturday it will be quite wet in the northeast of the country. Elsewhere in the country it will become sunnier during the day, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius. “That sounds cool, and it may well be for this time of year,” says Lafeber. Normally the average temperature in this period is around 23 degrees Celsius.

Sunday starts dry, but in the afternoon cirrus clouds appear and in the evening there is a chance of showers. According to Lafeber, Sunday will be largely “nice” and it will be between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius.

The meteorologist says it is a coincidence that this summer holiday is rainy. “The past period has been variable, but that is quite normal in the summer.”

For holidaymakers in the Netherlands, Lafeber has sunny news: next week will be summerly warm. From Wednesday it will be drier and from Thursday the temperatures will rise. It will then be around 25 degrees Celsius, sometimes a little warmer in the south. This summer weather will probably last until after next weekend.
