Reijnders about transfer to Manchester City: 'This is a dream come true'

Tijjani Reijnders is thrilled with his transfer to Manchester City. The midfielder is moving from AC Milan to England for a reported 70 million euros, making him the fourth most expensive Dutch footballer of all time.

“I am delighted to have signed for Manchester City,” Reijnders said on Wednesday on the Manchester City website. “City is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and excellent facilities.”

“Under Josep Guardiola, City has won so many titles and I want to continue that with much more success in the coming years,” continues Reijnders, who interrupted the Dutch national team training camp on Sunday to undergo the medical examination.

Reijnders says that a “dream has come true” now that he will be playing in the Premier League from next season. He has signed a five-year contract. “Many of the best Dutch players have played in this competition over the years. It inspired me to follow in their footsteps.”

Technical director Hugo Viana is pleased that Reijnders has chosen Manchester City. “Tijjani has extensive experience at the top level in Europe, both at club level and on the international stage with the Netherlands. He adds extra energy, composure and creativity to our midfield.”

Reijnders could make his debut for Manchester City soon. The midfielder will be included in the squad for the Club World Cup in the United States, which starts for manager Josep Guardiola’s team next Wednesday.
