The recordings of the Netflix series Emily in Paris were suspended after the death of a director’s assistant in Venice. The 47-year-old Italian Diego Borella collapsed on the set in a hotel. The authorities suspect that he had a heart attack.
Borella could no longer be resuscitated. The incident happened on Thursday around 7 p.m., a few days before the recordings for the fifth season would be ready. It is still unclear how long the production will be.
According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Borella died during the recording of one of the last scenes in a famous hotel in the city, the hotel Danieli. He came from Venice and had worked for years in the international film industry.
Although the series takes place in the French capital, some new episodes are included in Italy, including in Rome and Venice. The recordings in Venice would originally last until Monday, after previous recordings in Rome in May.
