Public transport is temporarily free in Geneva because of Smog

Residents of Geneva Can Travel on Public Transport for Free From Wednesday. The City Council HAS Taken The Temporary Measure because the Air is Heavily Polluted. Cars have limited access to the city.

More Ozone Than The Threshold Value of 180 Micrograms per Cubic Meter Has Been Measured in the Air of Geneva for 24 Hours. Smog, which consists of ozone in the air, can caus breathing problems and headaches.

The City Council Wants To Combat Air Pollution by Enticing Residents and Visitors to Travel by Public Transport. Travelers No Longer Need a Ticket for the Bus, Tram, Train and Boat.

Also, The Most Polluting Cars Are No Longer Allowed Into The City. Gasoline and diesel cars emit nitrogen, which in combination with sunshine and high temperatures creates ozone gas.

It was 37 degrees in Geneva on Tuesday. Temperatures Above 30 Degrees are also forecast for the coming days.
