Paris Saint-Germain reached the final of the Club World Cup on Wednesday. The Champions League winner was too strong for Real Madrid in East Rutherford, USA, with a 4-0 victory, with Real making several significant defensive errors.
PSG was already 2-0 ahead after nine minutes. Fabián Ruiz opened the scoring in the sixth minute after defensive blunders by Real. Raúl Asencio lost the ball to Ousmane Dembélé in his own penalty area. Thibaut Courtois parried the ball away from Dembélé’s feet, after which Ruiz was able to shoot in easily.
Three minutes later, Dembélé doubled the lead himself, with the Real defense making another mistake. The Frenchman took advantage of a slip-up by Antonio Rüdiger. Dembélé was then able to storm freely towards the goal and shot convincingly into the left corner.
Halfway through the first half, PSG made it 3-0. Ruiz finished off a fine attack on a pass from Achraf Hakimi. After the break, the French took things a little easier and only scored in the final phase. Gonçalo Ramos found the net after a beautiful action by Bradley Barcola.
Paris Saint-Germain will play Chelsea in the final on Sunday. The Londoners defeated Brazilian side Fluminense 2-0 on Tuesday.
PSG can win their fifth prize of the season. Trainer Luis Enrique’s team previously won the Champions League, the national title, the French Cup and the French Super Cup.
