Princess Amalia has suffered a broken arm after falling from her horse. The 21-year-old daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima needs surgery for this.
Amalia will be operated on at the UMC Utrecht, the Government Information Service announced on Tuesday. It is not yet clear what the possible consequences are for official obligations.
This is the first time Amalia has broken something, as far as is known. In 2016, the princess appeared on crutches at the traditional photo opportunity. At that time, her ankle was sprained.
Princess Alexia broke her right femur during a ski vacation in Lech, Austria, in 2016. Princess Ariane broke her wrist while skating in February 2018.
