Police evacuates School Barneveld after false weapon report, minor arrested

The police arrested a minor on Thursday who made a false report of someone with a gun at a school in Barneveld. As a result of the report, the building was temporarily evacuated, and many police officers were present.

The police received a report around 10:00 AM of a “threatening situation with a weapon” and immediately scaled up. Specialist teams from the Special Interventions Service (DSI) and a police helicopter went to the school on Rietberglaan in Barneveld.

The students and teachers were received behind the sports hall at the school. The area around the school was also cordoned off. Soon after the evacuation, it became clear that the police had not found a weapon.

There were also no signs of a threatening situation. The school was released, and the students and teachers went back inside.

The police warn that false reports can have legal consequences. The investigation into the involvement of the minor suspect is still ongoing.
