The police are looking for a vandal who has sabotaged lampposts in the municipality of Apeldoorn. Recently, 164 lampposts have been unscrewed, after which the cables were cut. The damage amounts to almost 40,000 euros.
It is unknown whether it concerns one or more vandals. The municipality itself speaks of “a cable cutter”. The municipality and the police take the vandalism very seriously.
“In addition to the financial damage, the situation also poses risks to public safety. Non-functioning street lighting can lead to dangerous situations in traffic and on the street,” the municipality of Apeldoorn writes on its website.
In 2016 and 2017, a ‘cable cutter’ was also active in Apeldoorn. At the time, it caused more than 100,000 euros in damage.
