Perrier threatens to lose status 'natural mineral water'

Perrier May Soon No Longer Be Able to Call its Water “Natural Mineral Water.” The French Mineral Water Brand Has Come Under Fire After It Was revealed that It Had Been Using Prohibited Filtration Methods to Purify Its Water For Years.

Perrier was not the only one guilty of this. At Least a Third of the Mineral Water on the French Market was illegally filtered, partly out of fear of contamation.

Due to Persistent Drought and Intensive Agriculture, Groundwater is Becoming Polluted in Many Places, just in Deep Layers That Were PreviOutly Considered Safe. Therefore, many producers have started trating their water with UV light, carbon filters and microfiltration.

Althegh the Treatments do not affect the water or make it less safe for the people who drink it, they undermine confidence in the premium status of these brands. Accordance to European Regulations, ‘Natural Mineral Water’ May not be processed between the Source and the Bottle.

Perrier Owner NestlĂ© Has Now Admitted That Prohibited Methods Have Been Used And Says It has Tasks Measures to Adjust the Water Treatment. Neverbertheless, there is Uncertainty about the future of the brand: official Recognition as ‘Natural Mineral Water’ May Soon Be Withdrawn.
