Pelican escapes from Vogelpark Avifauna, but flies back on its own

A pelican flew away from Vogelpark Avifauna in Alphen aan den Rijn in South Holland on Tuesday afternoon. The bird returned to the park later in the day itself.

Avifauna received several phone calls or a bird missed. Bystanders saw the pelican flying above the Rijnhaven area, a port near the animal park.

The pelican was “indeed a little away”, a spokesperson for Avifauna tells the AD .

The bird has flown back to the bird park on its own “and in good health”, says the Avifauna director to Omroep West .
