Bon Bon Entertainment, the organizer of the canceled Burna Boy concert in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, has been declared bankrupt. As a result, it is unlikely that victims will get their money back, the company announced on Tuesday via Instagram.
In a statement, Bon Bon Entertainment writes that the bankruptcy was declared “with a heavy heart.” The organization calls the past two years “difficult,” with cancellations, financial setbacks, and an increasingly difficult market. “Despite all attempts to continue, it is simply no longer sustainable.”
The Burna Boy concert in the ArenA was canceled in June 2024 shortly before the start due to “unforeseen circumstances.” A year earlier, the Nigerian artist was scheduled to perform at the GelreDome. Long after the start time, at 11:00 PM, visitors were told that Burna Boy would no longer come. The concert was made up, but even then the artist appeared more than an hour late.
According to Bon Bon Entertainment, the negative media attention has had major consequences. Talks with artists broke down and investors withdrew. In an episode of the BNNVARA program BOOS, fans complained that they had not received any money back months after the cancellation.
The company reports that now even the last hope of reimbursement has disappeared for ticket buyers. In addition to concerts, Bon Bon Entertainment also organized parties and indoor festivals, aimed at what it itself called “black music culture.”
