The outage at Odido is over. The problems were caused by maintenance work on a data center. Due to the outage, there were problems with mobile calls, SMS and internet on Friday.
The first reports of problems at Odido came in the night from Thursday to Friday. On Friday around 7.30 am, the number of complaints at Allestoringen was the largest, with more than ten thousand.
NU.nl readers who are customers of Odido also said they were experiencing problems abroad due to the outage. Customers of the company’s other brands, Ben and Simpel, also reported an outage. Several safety regions also faced problems, making them temporarily unreachable. Emergency number 112 remained accessible.
The cause of the outage was nocturnal maintenance work on one of Odido’s data centers. “Then problems arose that mainly occurred on the mobile network,” a spokesperson told NU.nl. “Our engineers have worked hard to resolve the problems as quickly as possible.”
Odido still sees a few problems on a part of the radio network. “The problems have not yet been fully resolved. But for a large part of our customers, they can again use voice, SMS and internet services via mobile.”
Odido has recently suffered from outages more often. In mid-June, there were three different outages in three days. These were caused by a DNS outage, the after-effects of that outage and later a cable break in the mobile network. At the end of June there was another outage.
