All-destroying, that’s what 51-year-old Gernandt Flakka calls. The synthetic drug is on the rise, especially in Zeeland and West Brabant.
“Many people sometimes try something out in the field of drugs. But I want to warn young people about Flakka’s danger,” says Gernandt about his motive to make Tygo in the Flakka . “Even if there is only one person who thinks:” I will stay away from that, “I have already achieved my goal.”
Flakka, also known as the ‘Zombiedrug’, is very addictive. The drug has been working from a few milligrams, which means that there is an overdose quickly. The effects are similar to heroin, but many times more powerful. Users can become anxious, aggressive, psychotic and paranoid.

The people who speaks Gernandt use the addictive drug to deal with their problems. “For many people, the drug offers a flight from reality,” says the actor, who previously made a series about psychiatry and drug GHB.
“We sometimes walk around that man or woman on that bench with an arc. But we all have our struggles. Only some people can cope with life better than others.”
Gernandt had not prepared for the fierce conversations that pass in the series. “I prefer to come to those people with as little information as possible,” he says. “I am completely open and then a conversation will arise.”
The fact that Gernandt has been a cocaine addict from the age of eighteen to nineteenth helps him to move in his conversation partners. “I remember that I would rather not look at myself in the mirror. That way I didn’t have to deal with myself.” He decided to get help himself and thanks to his friends and mother got rid of his addiction.
That is more than thirty years ago. Yet Gernandt calls the fear of falling back “very real”. “Once addicted has always been addicted. A relapse is therefore lurking,” he says. “That does not mean that I am working on it every day, but that I remain vigilant in periods in which I would prefer not to feel anything.”

At the beginning of this year, Gernandt said he went through a big storm. His ex-girlfriend reported mistreatment by the actor. She also shared her story with private . In it she said that Gernandt would have grabbed her by her throat and pushed her against a wall.
