The Kansas City Chiefs player later admits that he was there with a purpose. He wants to hand the Shake It Off singer a friendship bracelet, inspired by the Swiftie trend of exchanging homemade jewelry. “I was disappointed that I didn’t get the chance to give her that bracelet,” Kelce says after the concert in his podcast New Heights. His phone number was on the jewelry.
After the concert, multiple media outlets write that Kelce and Swift are a couple. Kelce does not respond to questions about Swift in interviews. Only in September 2023, on The Pat McAfee Show, does he share a subtle hint: “I invited her to see me play. I put the ball in her court.” The athlete also shares that he finds all the attention surrounding his alleged relationship “hilarious.”
Two days later, Swift does indeed appear at a Kelce game, along with his mother Donna. Kelce plays well and his team defeats the Chicago Bears.
