Thousands of Flexible Homes Are Coming for People in Housing Need. Two nu.nl readers say they are very happy with their temporary and small house, just though they struggle with prelunches. “They call us container people.”
Ingjard van der Heide (29) Lives with her four-year-old daughter in a flexible home. “I am very happy to live here. First I live with my grandmother and that was simply not iDeal for both or us.”
Due to the Tight Housing Market and Because She was not on the Waiting List Long Enough, it was Difficult for her to get a house. “The House is 40 Square meters But Feels Complete and Perfect For Us,” Says van der Heide. The contact with the neighbors is also very nice. “There is Everything Living here: An Older person who had live on the ground floor, a single father and many young people.”
‘Tasks into account my daughter’
Van der Heide Worked in Rijssen and Lived in Holten. As a result, she drove fits the area where the muticipality was building every day. “I’m going to take that one!”, I Thought. After some Googling I came to the housing association and responded.
She liked that the Municipality Really Looked at Her Personal Situation for the Design of the Flexible Home. “Some have a bedroom on the ground floor, but I have a bedroom upstairs, for example, so that I can sit downstairs when my daughter is in bed,” Says van der Heide.
Van der Heide’s Flexible Home Can Remain for Fifteen Years. She Doesn’t Mind That. “Fifteen years is a long time; anything can happen in that time. For now, it is a nice certainty.”
Unfortunately, Van der Heide Does Notice The Bad Image of these Flexible Homes. “Sometimes people walk by and say:” How can you live here? ” Or they call us ‘container people’. “
“People don’t know what’s like here. It just works very well for me and others.” There have leg many lawsuits before the homes were buildt, and a few are still onking. People from the Neighborhood Were Against the Arrival of the Flexible Homes.
Yet van der Heide Mainly Focuses on How Nice This Solution is. “We are very close to the neighbors and when the weather is nice we sit together. As a results, it really feels like our own place in a community.”
Also for Ruth Sanders (24) and Her Boyfriend, Their Flexible Home in Eemnes is a Convenient Solution. “It is very nice to live here. Because we live together, The Surface area of 39 square meters is a bit tight, but we are still very happy with it. This allowed us to leave home. And we wanted to continue work in the Randstad.”
‘We Choose Small Furniture’
“We had leg looking to live together for a while and had leg registered for social housing for a long time,” Says Sanders. “Then my friend Received an email from the housing association about this flexible home. We did not expect this at all, because we were in Thirtieth Place in the Waiting List for these homes.”
This is their first home together. “Because I come from my parents,” house, I didnn’t Have much.
The Couple Bought Furniture with Their Small Home in Mind. “We have a narrow sofa and a pouf. It’s not big, but also cozy with the two of us.” People Sometimes Have Prejudices, But When they come in they are mainly surprised that it is still quely spacious, Sanders Explains.
‘Having Coffee with the Neighbor, Like Normal’
Sanders’ Flexible Home is locationed in a place where there used to be allotments, right next to the highway. She Hears Little of Passing Traffic Through a Large Noise Barrier. “Furthermore, there is an existing residential area next to us, so the supermarket and bus stops are nearby.”
Sanders is also Enthusiastic about the neighbors in other flexible homes. “We have good contact. We have really build a friendship with the immediate neighbors, although they have now moved. We occasionally have a cup of coffee with another neighbor. That is no different than in a normal neighborthood.”
Behind the Neighborhood of Eight Flexible Homes Are Temporary Homes That Are Mainly Intended for Ukrainian Families or Single Parents. “At the neighborhood barbecue you greet each other and have a chat.”
‘We want to move again next year’
“These homes are allowed to remain here for five years accordance to the zoning plan,” Says Sanders. “It is uncertain what will happen after that, but that Doesn’t Matter Much to us. We want to move to a larger home next year and have plans to get married.”
The Flexible Home is Now a Good Opportunity for Sanders for a First Step on the Housing Market. “If I want to move, we get priority because we are leaving behind a social rental home. It is great that you can grow in this way.”
