Reality star Tamara Elbaz, known from The Real Housewives of Amsterdam, was the victim of a home burglary last November. Bags and jewelry worth 200,000 euros were stolen. One of the suspects will appear in court on Tuesday. This is what we know.
On Monday, November 26, 2024, two men wearing balaclavas enter Elbaz’s home on the Stadionkade in Amsterdam in the evening. The 43-year-old reality star is not at home at that time, but her then four-year-old son Alexander and his two babysitters are. They all remain unharmed.
The robbery is said to have taken place after a delivery person had been to the door. As a result, the police found no traces of burglary in the apartment.
The damage is extensive. According to Elbaz, 200,000 euros worth of goods were stolen. “The babysitters were threatened and the two men went straight to my closet where various expensive items were stored,” she wrote on Instagram in November. According to the reality star, it concerns expensive items that are “mainly” of emotional value. For example, a large part of her designer bags were stolen and her Rolex is also missing.
A month later, Elbaz got some of the items back. “Wow!” she writes on Instagram in December. “Got some of my bags back today, the detectives were just at my door.” But a large part of the collection is still missing.
‘A slap in my face’
The police arrested a 21-year-old male suspect in April. According to Elbaz, the suspect is the partner of one of the babysitters who was at home at the time of the burglary. The robbers are said to have been let in on purpose. “That idea alone felt like a slap in my face,” she writes.
Elbaz trusted her babysitters implicitly. “These people were in my house for two years. They looked after my child. They belonged to our safe place.” The fact that her two babysitters appear to be involved in the robbery is extra painful for Elbaz. “I even had contact with their family.”
Not much later, two more arrests followed. According to Sébas Diekstra, Elbaz’s lawyer, the reality star is relieved that there have been multiple arrests. “The robbery has had a deep impact, partly because even her own home turned out not to be a safe place,” he told Shownieuws. “Especially in light of the brutal abuse she suffered earlier on the street.”
