Northern Irish rap group Kneecap not prosecuted for statements during Glastonbury

The British police will not prosecute the members of Kneecap for statements made during their Glastonbury performance. The Northern Irish rap group expressed negative opinions about British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on June 28, among other things.

The group also showed sympathy for a recently banned pro-Palestinian action group during the festival.

Last month, it was announced that the police would launch a criminal investigation into Kneecap’s performance. The show of the British rap duo Bob Vylan was also investigated. Bob Vylan singer Bobby Vylan shouted during the festival: “Death to the Israeli army.”

According to the police, there is insufficient evidence to prosecute Kneecap. The investigation into Bob Vylan’s statements is still ongoing.

‘One element of the political intimidation attempt by the police is over,” Kneecap writes on Instagram. “Anyone who has seen our set knows that no law has been broken.”
