NEC Signed Deveron Fonville to Nijmegen on the Last Day of the Dutch Transfer Market. The 22-Year-Old Defender Arrives from FC Dordrecht, where he only had bone under contract spriking this summer. Before that, he played for the amateurs or IJsselmeervogels.
Fonville Has Signed A Contract in Nijmegen Until of 2029. NEC Sees the Left-Footed Winger as the Successor to Calvin Verdonk, Who Moved to Lille OSC On Monday for 3 Million Euros.
“After the Departure of Calvin Verdonk, We Were Able to Quickly Switch to Deveron,” Says NEC Director Carlos Aalbers in A Press Release. “He is making a striking and rapid development and is an eager left-footed defender with a lot of potential. We will further shape his development so that can quickly be of value to the team.”
NEC is Said to Have Paid 600,000 euros for Fonville. The Defender had Already Played Four Games for Dordrecht in The Kitchen Champion Division. Due to his Meteoric Rise, Fonville was on the radar of more Eredivisie clubs. NEC was the only club to really bite, so he can now hope for his Eredivisie Debut.

Fonville Went Through the Youth Academy of PSV and FC Utrecht, after which he went on a training internship at NEC. That collaboration was short-lived. Fonville Opted for an Adventure in the Third Division with Hercules, with which he eliminated Ajax in the KNVB Cup in December 2023. A year later he moved to IJsselmeervogels.
