National Sinterklaas entry this year on Texel, first time in 41 years on Wadden Island

The national arrival of Sinterklaas will take place on Texel this year. On Saturday, November 15, the benevolent man will arrive on the largest Wadden Island in the Netherlands.

It is the first time since 1984 that a Wadden Island has formed the backdrop for the national arrival. More than forty years ago, Sinterklaas set foot on Terschelling. Last year, the arrival was held in the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden.

Mayor Mark Pol of Texel is pleased that his island can be the host this year. “We are proud that we will organize the national arrival of Sinterklaas. The arrival of Sinterklaas offers us the chance to show what Texel excels in: extraordinary hospitality in combination with great nature and lively villages.”

The presentation of the arrival is once again in the hands of Merel Westrik, who already replaced the sick Dieuwertje Blok last year. Westrik will be assisted on the quay by Stephanie van Eer, who, in the days before, together with Jeroen Kramer, will report on the preparations for the arrival of Sinterklaas.

The NTR will broadcast the arrival live from 12:00 PM on NPO Zapp (NPO 3). From Monday, November 10, Het Sinterklaasjournaal will be broadcast every day at 6:00 PM, also on NPO Zapp.
