The national educational protest against the cutbacks of the now fallen cabinet that would take place on Tuesday has been postponed. A “central action moment” is because of a strike by NS staff that day is not possible, a spokesperson for the General Education Union (AOB) says.
Earlier, the campaign was moved from The Hague to Amsterdam because the former would be difficult to reach due to the announced regional track strike in the West.
On Sunday, the VVMC trade union announced that it would expand the regional strike to the Noordwest region. NS then decided to delete train traffic on Tuesday, because otherwise it can offer “no reliable timetable”.
“Staking hurts, that is part of it. This time with us,” said the AOB spokesperson in a press release. “We are of course right in front of the right to strike and want to express our solidarity to the train strikers.” The organization says it comes after the summer with a new promotion, “closer to the elections”.
The parties involved emphasize that the national educational protest has not been revoked. Anyone who wants to stop striking has the support of the action partners.
