National coach Veurink adds Reuser and Redan to Staf Oranjevrouwen

Former professionals Martijn Reuser and Iwan Redan have been added to the technical staff of the Orange Women. Reuser will be the assistant to the new national coach Arjan Veurink, and Redan will be the performance coach.

The fifty-year-old Reuser himself played one international match for Orange. He won the Champions League and four national titles with Ajax. As a coach, Reuser worked in Ajax’s youth academy. He was in charge of youth teams at the KNVB. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he was part of the Dutch national team’s scouting staff.

It was already announced last month that Roos Kwakkenbos would become Veurink’s assistant. The three-time international worked as national coach of Orange under 19 (women). The KNVB was looking for new assistants because Arvid Smit and Janneke Bijl will join England, where they will assist national coach Sarina Wiegman.

Veurink’s technical staff, who is leaving as Wiegman’s assistant and succeeding Andries Jonker, also includes goalkeeper trainer Eline Sol and performance coach Redan. The 44-year-old Redan has been active as a performance coach with RKC Waalwijk and the men’s teams of Suriname and Aruba, among others.

Veurink is happy with the composition of his staff. “We have deliberately looked at the qualities and competencies of each individual to complement each other optimally. It is a diverse and complementary group, and I look forward to working with them,” Veurink said on Thursday on the KNVB website.

Veurink will officially join the KNVB in September as the successor to Jonker, who has been in charge of Orange since 2022. The Netherlands stranded in the group stage of the past European Championship after defeats against England (4-0) and France (2-5).
