NAC trainer Carl Hoefkens was not talking about the arbitration after the defeat against Ajax (2-1). According to Hoefkens, Kenneth Taylor’s winning goal should have been rejected due to offside.
Taylor set Ajax at 2-1 just after the break, but it was unclear for a long time whether the goal would count. The VAR called referee Marc Nagtegaal to the side because Mika Godts would have been a nuisance offside.
Godts made it impossible for NAC defender Boyd Lucassen to stop Taylor’s shot on the goal line. Yet that was no reason for Nagtegaal to reject the goal.
“I have a lot of problems with that second goal,” Hoefkens told ESPN . “His statement (from the referee, ed.) Is that he can never be at the ball again, but then he has to come to the training. He apparently knows my players better than myself.”
“Even if Boyd with his head is not possible at the ball, he still has the right to take the ball by hand. Then there will be a penalty and then we can stop. So that is not up to a referee to decide.”
‘We had earned more’
Hoefkens nevertheless concluded the interview with a careful smile. “I do have a positive feeling, because I see the development of my team. I see the things we want to do: bringing intensity, passion and duel power.”
“We did not want Ajax to play football from backwards and succeeded in large parts of the match. That was very positive. We had earned more today. We should not be satisfied, not even against Ajax. I am proud that I am part of this group. I get a lot of confidence from this.”
NAC Coach Carl Hoefkens was not happy with the arbitration after the defeat Against Ajax (2-1). Accordance to Hoefkens, Kenneth Taylor’s Winning goal Should Have Been Disallowed due to offside.
Taylor Put Ajax Ahead 2-1 Shortly After the Break, but It was Unclear for a Long Time Whether the Goal would Count. The Var Called Referee Marc Nagtegaal To The Side Because Mika Godts was allegedly in an Obstructive offside position.
Godts made it impossible for NAC Defender Boyd Lucassen to Stop Taylor’s Shot on the goal Line. Yet that was no reason for nagtegaal to disallow the goal.
“I have a lot of problems with that second goal,” Hoefkens Told ESPN . “HIS Explanation (from the referee, ed.) Is that can never get to the ball anymore, but then he has to come to training. He applies my players better than I do myself.”
“Even if boyd can’t get to the ball with his head, he still has the right to grab the ball with his hand. Then there will be a penalty and then we can stop it. So that is not up to a referee to decide.”
‘We Deserved More’
Hoefkens Neverberness Concluded the interview with a Cautious Laugh. “I have a positive feeling it the development of my team. I see the things we want to do: Bringing Intensity, Passion and Duing Power.”
“We Didn’t Want Ajax to play Football from the Back and We Succeded in that in Large Parts of the Match. That was very positive. We deserved more today. We should go satisfied, not even against ajax. I get a lot of trom. Group. Group.” “
