Music world mourns 'Legend' Ozzy Osbourne: 'Kat with more than 9 lives'

With the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, a true rock legend has passed away, many British and international musicians state in response to the death of ‘The Prince of Darkness’. Osbourne was 76 years old.

“He was a dear friend and a huge pioneer who has secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods,” writes Elton John with a photo with Osbourne.

“He was a legend and he was also one of the funniest people I have ever met. I will miss him enormously. To Sharon and the family, I send my condolences and love.”

“What a brilliant farewell concert he had at Back to the Beginning in Birmingham,” reacts The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Osbourne sang this month at the farewell concert of his metal band Black Sabbath. Wood says he is “very saddened” by the news.

The American rock band Pantera is also affected by the death of the rock star. “Thank you for everything you have done for metal and for Pantera. We wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t been,” the band members write on Instagram. They wish Osbourne’s family much strength. “We deeply sympathize with you in this loss.”

‘Your music makes the journey through life more beautiful’

Billy Idol thinks with the passing of Osbourne back to the early days of Black Sabbath. “I saw them a month before their first album came out, in 1968 in the town hall of Worthing,” writes the Rebel Yell singer with a series of photos.

“I was right at the front and his fringes touched me. Ozzy embodied the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll. He continued to perform until the end, as we recently saw at his farewell concert.”

“When I was in high school, I discovered Sabbath. The song War Pigs was frightening and enchanting at the same time,” Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready said. “It was Ozzy’s voice that took me to a dark universe. A great escape from reality. Thank you for the music, Ozzy. It makes our journey through life more beautiful.”

Duran Duran finds it difficult to imagine a world without Osbourne. “He brought so much joy, humor and raw power into the world, in a life full of many chapters,” the British band writes on Instagram. “Ozzy was a cat who had many more than nine lives.”

‘Your laughter filled the whole room’

“I didn’t think you would go so soon. The last time we saw each other, you were so full of life and your laughter filled the whole room,” writes Yungblud with a photo of himself with Osbourne. “I will never forget you, you will be with me in every note I sing.”

The British singer considers the chain with the cross he received from the rock legend as his most precious possession. “My heart is broken. You were the greatest of all time.”

Also Machete actor Danny Tejo is very upset. “Today we have lost one of the wildest souls who ever walked this earth,” he writes on X. “Ozzy was not only ‘The Prince of Darkness’, he was pure light for those of us who were lucky enough to meet him. Save a backstage spot for me up there, friend.”

Osbourne struggled with Parkinson’s disease. In recent years he had undergone a number of major surgeries. He leaves behind his wife Sharon and five children.
