Jamal Musiala does not blame Gianluigi Donnarumma for the serious injury he sustained on Saturday during the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup. The German is out for months with a broken fibula.
Musiala came into contact with PSG goalkeeper Donnarumma just before half-time. The Bayern attacking midfielder screamed out in pain. Both teams headed to the locker rooms in shock after the incident.
“I want to thank you for all the support I have received. That means a lot to me,” said the 22-year-old Musiala on Wednesday in a video message on Instagram. The playmaker has now undergone surgery.
Among others, Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer was critical of Donnarumma’s action, but Musiala defends his opponent. “I want to say that nobody is to blame here,” said the forty-time international.
“This just happens in football. I am going to use the coming time to regain my strength and positivity,” said Musiala.
