Multiple bodies found in car during the search for Jeffrey and Emma

In the car that was found on Tuesday during the search for missing Jeffrey and Emma, multiple bodies were found. Whether these are the bodies of the children is not yet known. The car was found in the water near the Renselweg in Winschoten.

A car “of a similar type” to that of the children’s father was found in the water. Inside are “multiple bodies”, the number of which is not yet clear, according to the police.

The police will retrieve the car from the water “with great care” and investigate it. According to the spokesperson, this means that “we must consider the scenario that it may be Jeffrey and Emma”.

Since around 8:30 PM, the police have been searching the water near the Renselweg in the Groningen town. The reason for the search is not known. However, it is clear that the police were looking for a gray Toyota Avensis from 2001.

The Renselweg is located in an industrial area. Across the water, on the Havenkade-West, an area is being set up for journalists. There, the police will answer questions.

The police announced on Tuesday evening in the program Investigation Requested that finding the children is the highest priority. On Monday and Tuesday, dozens of officers and citizens participated in the search, but that has not yielded anything so far.

Children Not Seen Since SATURDAY Afternoon

On Saturday at 9:40 AM, the car of father Klaas B. drove past a Shell gas station on the Beersterweg in Winschoten. These brief images made it clear that it was a gray Toyota from 2001 with a tow bar. A little later, between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, the man was reportedly seen in a German gambling hall in Bunde, just across the border.

From Bunde, he appears to have traveled back alone to Beerta. There, he picked up ten-year-old Jeffrey and eight-year-old Emma around 3:30 PM. That is the last time the children were seen. A quarter of an hour later, the car was still seen on the A7 near Winschoten. Jeffrey and Emma have been missing since Saturday afternoon. Since then, there has been no trace.
