Soul singer Michael Kiwanuka has had to cancel all of his scheduled performances due to “ongoing health problems.” This includes his remaining six festival appearances in Europe and a complete North American tour in October.
Kiwanuka’s management announced via social media that the 38-year-old English soul singer is “unable to perform.” The decision was made on the advice of his doctors. It is unclear exactly what is wrong with him.
“We know it’s disappointing and no one is more disappointed than Michael,” his management writes. The singer was scheduled to perform at Pukkelpop in Belgium and Sziget in Hungary, where many Dutch people go every year.
The singer-songwriter with Ugandan roots broke through with his debut album Home Again in 2011. Since then, he has released several albums, including Love & Hate and Kiwanuka. He won the Mercury Prize for the latter album. He has also been nominated for a Grammy.
Kiwanuka scored his biggest hit in 2016 with Cold Little Heart. That is his most streamed song on Spotify.
