Merel Westrik will present the Sinterklaasjournaal and the national arrival again this fall. Sinterklaas will set foot on Texel on Saturday, November 15, broadcaster NTR announced on Friday.
Westrik says on Instagram that she is looking forward to it. She also refers to her predecessor Dieuwertje Blok, from whom she took over the presentation last year. Blok died in early March as a result of cancer.
“The steamboat, the North Sea, an island. Something to look forward to. Dieuwertje should have been there,” Westrik writes. “But maybe she is. I secretly hope for a very big rainbow at the arrival. And then it’s waiting with anticipation…”
During the broadcast, Westrik will be supported by Jeroen Kramer and a new face: Stephanie van Eer. She makes her debut as a reporter for the Sinterklaasjournaal. “I am really looking forward to going out as a reporter,” says Van Eer. “I have been a fan from the very beginning and something unexpected happens every year.”
