Marc van der Linden not prosecuted for extortion due to health

Royal House reporter Marc van der Linden will not be prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service for extortion with sex videos. The Public Prosecution Service started an investigation after a report was filed. On Monday, it was decided not to prosecute due to his health situation.

Two people reported blackmail and extortion against Van der Linden in 2022. The Public Prosecution Service concluded that there was stalking, coercion, and drug possession. An investigation was started against the 55-year-old royal house expert last year.

Van der Linden was recovering from a stroke at the time. He suffered another one in July last year.

“Based on the file and the witness statements, the Public Prosecution Service concludes that there is insufficient evidence for stalking. However, the Public Prosecution Service considers coercion and drug possession to be proven,” according to the Public Prosecution Service in a statement. “Given the health situation of the suspect, the suspicions of coercion and drug possession are ‘conditionally dismissed’.”

The conditional dismissal means that Van der Linden may not contact the informants and may not commit new criminal offenses.
