The caretaker of Queen Máxima’s holiday home in Argentina is missing. 76-year-old Carlos Ancapichun was last seen more than three weeks ago, according to Argentinian media. A rescue team is searching for him in Chile, but fears he will not be found alive.
Ancapichun is the caretaker of Máxima’s holiday home in Villa La Angostura. The Queen regularly stays with her family in the house when she visits her native Argentina. He also maintains the boat that the royal family has on site.
Ancapichun has been missing since June 13. He traveled to Chile to visit family, according to the local newspaper Diario Río Negro. Remarkably, Ancapichun’s father disappeared in the same place in 1950, in almost exactly the same way.
Police found his truck in a field in Chile, not far from the border with Argentina. Boots and outdoor clothing were found in the vehicle.
A rescue team is searching for the man in the Chilean jungle but believes he has already died. The team assumes he was not wearing suitable clothing, which means he probably did not survive the weather and terrain.
“Unfortunately, we already consider it a search for his body,” the head of the rescue team told the local medium La Angostura Digital.
