A man injured seven agents on Monday evening during a flight attempt in Laeken, Belgium. He drove in on one of the agents and injured six during his arrest. During his flight he also damaged another twenty vehicles.
The Brussels public prosecutor reports this to the Belga news agency. The police received a report of a fight in a cafe in Laken, a Brussels borough on Monday around 7 p.m.
When the police approached one of the people involved, it fled into a car. “During his flight, he consciously injured an agent by driving on,” says a spokesperson for the public prosecutor.
The police started the chase. During his flight, the man drove once again on agents who could escape. “He also damaged about twenty vehicles, drove through red and drove in a street in a forbidden direction,” the spokesperson continues.
When the man was stopped, his arrest resisted. He injured a few more agents. “In total, seven police officers were injured,” says the spokesperson. Some cannot work for three to six days.
The man is suspected of attempted manslaughter and public drunkenness.
