Man drives with delivery van on police horses in Den Bosch

A man drove a van into two police officers on horseback in Den Bosch on Wednesday afternoon. As a result, one of the officers fell. The horses were also slightly injured. The man was later arrested and appeared to be under the influence.

According to the officers, the man started yelling without any reason when they were performing a routine check in the center of Den Bosch. The officers addressed the man, after which he got into his van and drove away.

Shortly thereafter, he drove into the police horses and sped off. One of the officers fell off the horse due to the impact and was slightly injured. The horses themselves have “considerable scratches” from the incident and have been checked by a veterinarian. They will be checked again on Thursday.

The suspect was arrested shortly after outside the city and appeared to be under the influence. It concerns a fifty-year-old man from the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel. He is in custody on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence and insulting an officer.
