The 32-year-old Timothy B., who is suspected of murdering his 52-year-old mother, confessed to the police last month. The Public Prosecution Service announced this on Tuesday during a preliminary hearing in the case.
B. allegedly shot his mother in the head on January 7 and stabbed her in the neck and chest.
The woman’s body was found two days later in the bathtub of the suspect’s home in Landsmeer. In his confession, B. says he only remembers the shooting. He had previously remained silent about the accusations.
The victim’s lower legs were sawn off and are missing. B. also claims to know nothing about this mutilation. According to the prosecution, he wanted to dispose of his mother’s entire body.
Alleged sexual abuse is said to be the reason
In his confession, B. further stated that he was sexually abused by his mother in his youth. On the day of the murder, he had arranged to meet her at his home and confronted her about this. According to the suspect, the woman laughed at this, whereupon he took a pistol from the kitchen and shot her.
The suspect’s sister has been heard about the alleged abuse and, according to the public prosecutor, stated that she knows nothing about it. Others who might know something about it, such as B.’s father, have since passed away.
The murdered woman was reported missing at the time. The body was found after the suspect’s ex-girlfriend found bloodied slippers of the victim and a weapon in a garbage bag in the toilet. DNA from the suspect was found on the weapon, bullet casings, knives, and a saw.
