
After 21 years, there has bone a breakthrough in a cold case Involving the rape of a then 65-year-old Woman in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Police arrested a 61-year-old man from Zwijndrecht on Monday as a suspect.
The Rape Occurred on May 18, 2004, in The Woman’s Home on Van Goedewijckstraat in the South Holland Town. A Managed to Enter the Apartment Building and then Forced His way into the Woman’s Home. He raped her in the bedroom.
Detectives found traces of the suspect in the house. The Police also showed a composite photo in Opsporing Verzocht . But at the time, it was not Possible to identify a perpetrator.
The Cold Case Team Recently Re-Examined the Case. Through DNA from a Family Member, The Police Tracked Down The Suspect. Additional DNA Testing of the Man revealed a match with traces from 2004.
The Suspect Has Already Been Brought Before the Examining Magistrate, Who has Extended the Man’s Pre-Trial Detention by Fourteen Days.
