Loreen says performance at Milkshake Festival because of voice problems

Singer Loreen will not perform this weekend during the Milkshake Festival in Amsterdam. The double song festival winner has canceled her performance due to persistent complaints to her voice and breathing.

“I have been sick in recent weeks and had persistent problems with my voice and breathing. It has now been so far advanced that I just can’t sing,” writes Loreen on the Instagram account of the festival. She says she has hoped that it would pass by itself, but now follows the advice of her doctors to take a rest.

The Swedish singer, who won the Eurovision Songfestival in 2012 and 2023, was programmed for Sunday 27 July on the main stage of the festival in the Westerpark. She would replace Azealia Banks there, whose performance was previously deleted after a fuss about statements about the queer community.

The Milkshake organization says it is a pity that Loreen cannot come, but emphasizes that her health is paramount. “We hope that we can welcome you again in the future,” the festival writes.
