News network Iran International reports that the proposal also includes the suspension of IAEA inspections. In the future, the Iranian Security Council would have to grant permission before inspectors are allowed access.

The decision is sensitive because the UN agency monitors whether the Iranian nuclear program is in line with international agreements. The suspension of cooperation with the IAEA may be seen in the West as a signal that Iran will violate such agreements.

That could be problematic, not least because Israel’s reason for attacking Iran two weeks ago was that Iran was too close to developing a nuclear weapon.

The decision now only needs approval from the Iranian National Security Council, reports Reuters.

Angry Trump: ‘What the fuck are Iran and Israel doing?’

Remarkable was Trump’s reaction to the violation of the ceasefire. Yesterday he fulminated in front of government plane Air Force One: “What the fuck are Iran and Israel doing?”

Good morning and welcome to this live blog. It has now been 24 hours since the ceasefire announced by President Trump came into effect. What followed was a turbulent day, in which the ceasefire seemed to be broken after only a few hours. Both countries accused each other of violating the ceasefire, much to Trump’s anger.

What went wrong is not clear. But in the course of the afternoon, both countries recommitted to the ceasefire. In Trump’s original plan, the ceasefire would officially take effect after exactly 24 hours, at 6:00 AM Dutch time. For now, it seems that the ceasefire has survived this.
