Yesilgöz weet nog niet of ze weer met PVV in zee zou gaan Een veelgestelde en volgens Yesilgöz ook logische vraag: wil de VVD weer in zee met de PVV? Daar kan Yesilgöz nog geen antwoord op geven. “Ik heb nog niet het antwoord voor u”, zegt ze tegen CU-leider Mirjam Bikker. De kabinetsval is nog te vers, vindt Yesilgöz. “We moeten daar goed met elkaar over nadenken en het goed afwegen. Dat is oprecht waar ik sta.”
Yesilgöz heeft geen spijt“Ik heb geen enkele spijt van het ingaan van het rechtse kabinet. Dit was mijn enige om kans beleid voor elkaar te krijgen waar GL-PvdA nooit voor te vinden zou zijn. Wat we op papier hebben afgesproken was precies waar de kiezer thuis op zat te wachten.”
De VVD-leider zegt ook meermaals dat het aan de kiezer is welke partijen straks het grootst worden.
Yesilgöz: ‘Kabinetsval ging over iemand die een uitweg zoekt’JA21-leider Joost Eerdmans zoekt naar het antwoord op de vraag of de kabinetsval voorkomen had kunnen worden. Had Yesilgöz niet tóch een handtekening kunnen zetten, zodat Wilders zijn asielplannen daarna zelf moest uitwerken?
“Dat had prima gekund als Wilders bereid was iets meer mee te geven over wat hij per punt bedoelde”, zegt Yesilgöz. Volgens de VVD’er is het “handig dat je iets meer dan één regel hoort als je ideeën hebt”. Maar zover kwam de coalitie niet. “Begin van de week werd het me al duidelijk: dit gaat niet over de inhoud, dit gaat over iemand die een uitweg zoekt.”
Yesilgöz hoopt dat Kamer asielwetten wil behandelenDe VVD-leider wil “stilstand vermijden” en doet een beroep op de Kamer om het “rechtse liberale beleid” voort te zetten. Ze wil met name door met de asielwetten van vertrekkend minister Marjolein Faber. Yesilgöz vreest dat er na de verkiezingen misschien geen rechtse meerderheid meer is.
Ook PVV, NSC, CDA, BBB, SGP en JA21 willen door met de asielwetten. Daarmee is er een Kamermeerderheid. Het gaat om de wetten over een tweestatusstelsel en andere strengere asielmaatregelen.
Yesilgöz valt direct Wilders aanDe VVD-leider heeft net het woord genomen. Ze begint haar bijdrage met een sneer naar de PVV. “Wilders laat Nederland in de steek. In ongekend onzekere tijden”, zegt ze. Yesilgöz verwijt Wilders van weglopen en noemt zijn besluit “onvolwassen”.
Van Baarle: Komende verkiezingen zijn allesbepalendZoals verwacht is DENK-leider Stephan van Baarle fel in zijn bijdrage. Hij beschuldigde het kabinet-Schoof sinds de start van racisme. Hij herhaalt dat standpunt. Hij is blij dat er einde is gekomen aan het kabinet en noemt de komende verkiezingen “allesbepalend”.
PvdD kritisch op constructieve houding CDAPvdD-leider Esther Ouwehand spreekt Bontenbal vervolgens aan op die constructieve houding. Want als de partij democratische ethos zo hoog heeft zitten, waarom steunt hij dan een kabinet dat die democratische ethos juist aanviel?
Bontenbal wijst op de dilemma’s: “Elke fractievergadering hadden we het erover: wat steunen we wel, wat steunen we niet. Wanneer is het voor ons genoeg. Ik denk dat wij oprechte en integere keuzes hebben gemaakt”. De CDA’er zou het daarom nu precies weer op dezelfde manier doen, benadrukt hij.
CDA gaat zich constructief opstellen bij asielmaatregelenCDA-leider Bontenbal vat de val van het kabinet samen met “onverantwoord en roekeloos”. Dat slaat wat hem betreft vooral op de PVV. “Maar ook de VVD heeft een belangrijke rol gespeeld”, zegt Bontenbal. Want de liberalen hebben volgens hem twee jaar geleden óók het kabinet laten vallen op migratie en ook toen was er oorlog in Oekraïne. Bontenbal heeft het wederom over “fatsoenlijke politiek”. Dat is inmiddels zijn stokpaardje.
Het CDA gaat zich constructief opstellen, belooft Bontenbal. Ook wat betreft de asielwetten die nog naar de Tweede Kamer gestuurd moeten worden. Het is de vraag of dat nog gaat gebeuren nu het kabinet is gevallen.
Het verwijt van Wilders dat zijn partij is tegengewerkt door de andere coalitiepartijen en de oppositie wuift Bontenbal resoluut weg. Het stellen van vragen bij kabinetsvoorstellen is de normaalste zaak van de wereld, zegt hij. Ook als dat er zo’n zevenhonderd zijn, zoals bij de asielplannen van oud-minister Faber.
Dassen: ‘Is geflirt met extreemrechts nu voorbij?’Volt-voorman Laurens Dassen richt zich in zijn bijdrage meteen tot de VVD. “Onder leiding van toetsenbordstrijder Wilders, mede mogelijk gemaakt door VVD-leider Yesilgöz, werd Nederland minder groen, minder eerlijk en minder veilig. Mijn vraag is simpel: mevrouw Yesilgöz, is het nu voorbij met dit geflirt met extreemrechts?”
Een opmerking over kweekvlees zorgt voor reuring in de plenaire zaal. Dassen neemt namelijk een voorzetje op zijn partijplannen door aan te geven dat Volt in de toekomst onder meer graag ziet “dat ieder Kamerlid kweekvlees eet, want het is net zo lekker”. Maar het eten van kweekvlees lijkt vooralsnog op weinig enthousiasme te kunnen rekenen onder de aanwezige Kamerleden.
Jetten opgelucht: ‘Wil bezuinigingen op onderwijs van tafel’ Na het felle debatje tussen Wilders en Van Vroonhoven is D66-leider Jetten aan de beurt. Bij hem overheerst opluchting. “Want de bezuinigingen in het onderwijs kunnen van tafel”, zegt hij. Er is volgens hem ook ruimte voor een beter klimaatbeleid en het bouwen van woningen.
Maar hij richt zijn pijlen ook op de coalitiegenoten van Wilders. “Hij is niets veranderd”, zegt Jetten over Wilders. “Hij kiest het hazenpad als het moeilijk wordt. Wat een rechtse droomvlucht had moeten zijn, blijkt een fata morgana.” Bij de term fata morgana rolt VVD-leider Yesilgöz opvallend met haar ogen als blijk van afkeuring. Jetten krijgt verder geen interrupties en kan zodoende na vier minuten weer gaan zitten.
Wilders tegen Van Vroonhoven: ‘U heeft ons tergend gek gemaakt’NSC’er Van Vroonhoven interrumpeert Wilders omdat hij zojuist zei dat de NSC ervoor zorgde dat de noodwet voor asiel een spoedwet werd. “Wij hebben weten te behoeden dat de wet zou sneuvelen in de Eerste Kamer”, zegt ze. “Bent u dan met mij eens?”
Maar Wilders grijpt direct zijn kans om er een vurig debatje van te maken. “U heeft ons tergend gek gemaakt. En dat zeg ik vriendelijk, omdat u niet onaardig bent. Maar politiek gezien is uw fractie een ramp.”
De twee voormalig coalitiegenoten voeren vervolgens een discussie over hoe de crisis rond de noodwet afgelopen winter verliep. Wilders beschuldigt Van Vroonhoven van het “onthoofden van de noodwet”. Van Vroonhoven reageert door te zeggen dat het Wilders niet lukte om aan te tonen dat er sprake was van een crisis.
“NSC had ook voor Nederlandse Sabotage Club kunnen staan”, sneert Wilders daarop. Van Vroonhoven: “Dat is een persoonlijke aanval. En dat is precies de reden waarom samenwerken met u zo ongelooflijk ingewikkeld is”.
Eerdmans: Ook coalitiepartijen hebben kiespijnJA21-leider Joost Eerdmans uit vooral zijn teleurstelling over de actie van Wilders. Zijn partij is het op veel gebieden eens met de wensen van Wilders, maar vindt het onbegrijpelijk dat de PVV’er uit de coalitie is gestapt. “Ik snap uw teleurstelling, maar u zat in de positie dat u iets kon bereiken.” Ook alle coalitiepartijen hebben door de samenwerking kiespijn gekregen, meent Eerdmans. “Als je wil samenwerken, moet je concessies doen”.
Wilders benadrukt dat hij echt “de redelijkheid zelf” is geweest. Zo werd hij geen premier en werd er een streep gezet door de asielnoodwet.
Bikker onderstreept dat voor Wilders maar één ding teltMirjam Bikker (CU) vindt het kwalijk dat Wilders het kabinet heeft laten vallen omdat hij “op één punt niet helemaal zijn zin kreeg”. Ze vraagt zich hardop af wat er van alle andere plannen is terechtgekomen, zoals op het gebied van zorg. Wilders antwoord is klip en klaar. “Natuurlijk is de rest ook belangrijk. Maar het terugdringen van asiel is ons belangrijkste punt. Veel mensen hebben ons vooral daarom gekozen.”
Dijk tegen Wilders: ‘U bént Rutte V’SP’er Jimmy Dijk gebruikt zijn interruptie van Wilders vooral om punten te maken die zijn partij belangrijk vindt. Wilders heeft zijn kiezers teleurgesteld, meent Dijk, die vooral wijst op de mensen “in de wijk” die aan het wachten waren op het schrappen van het eigen risico en een betere verdeling van azc’s over de ook rijkere gemeenten.
“Als je de grootste wordt en je hebt de macht, doe er dan ook wat mee”, aldus Dijk. “U bént Rutte V”, daarbij verwijzend naar de klacht van Wilders dat als dit kabinet “Rutte V” zou worden, de PVV eruit zou stappen.
Wilders: Steun voor Oekraïne staat na kabinetsval onverkort vastWilders benadrukt net als demissionair premier Schoof dat steun voor Oekraïne “onverkort vaststaat”. Dat kun je opvallend noemen, omdat Wilders vaak vraagtekens zet bij die hulp. Bijvoorbeeld door te eisen dat er net zoveel miljarden euro’s naar koopkracht als naar steun aan Oekraïne gaan. Dat bleek overigens onhaalbaar.
Wilders heeft zich ook weleens sympathiek uitgelaten over de Russische president Poetin en heeft warme banden met pro-Russische politici in het buitenland, zoals de Hongaarse premier Orbán. Maar Wilders benadrukt: Rusland is in de oorlog met Oekraïne “de agressor”.
Baudet (FVD) ziet een kans en valt Wilders aanThierry Baudet is niet vaak te zien in de plenaire zaal, maar grijpt in dit debat zijn kans. De leider van Forum voor Democratie (FVD) vindt dat Wilders heeft gefaald en hekelt dat de spreidingswet niet is ingetrokken. “Aan wie lag dat? Faber heeft het afgelopen jaar het ministerie niet onder controle gekregen”, zegt hij tegen Wilders.
FVD en PVV vissen als het aankomt op het winnen van kiezers in dezelfde vijver.
Timmermans en Wilders clashen weer: ‘U bent een schandvlek’Timmermans interrumpeert Wilders. Hij wil weten hoe de PVV’er kan opkomen voor Oekraïne en tegelijkertijd op een congres verschijnt met “Poetin-vrienden”. Wilders was afgelopen weekend op een internationaal congres met onder anderen de Hongaarse premier Orbán en Alice Weidel, de lijsttrekker van Alternative für Deutschland. “Hebben we te maken met twee Wildersen?”, wil Timmermans weten.
Maar volgens Wilders klopt de beschrijving van Timmermans niet. Er waren volgens hem Israëlische bewindslieden en Poolse parlementariërs die het bloed van Poetin wel kunnen drinken. “Onzin”, zegt Wilders dus over het verwijt dat hij met “vrienden van Poetin” bivakkeerde.
Het werd onvriendelijk tussen Timmermans en Wilders toen het over de oorlog in Gaza ging. De PVV-leider steunt Israël door dik en dun. Ook nu steeds meer wordt gesproken over genocidaal geweld door het Israëlische leger. Volgens Timmermans is Wilders daarom “een schandvlek” voor het Nederlands parlement. Wilders noemt Timmermans op zijn beurt “een antisemiet”.
Wilders wil door met wetten van FaberSGP-voorman Chris Stoffer vraagt Wilders over welke onderwerpen wat hem betreft gewoon nog beslissingen genomen moeten worden. Hij vraagt zich vooral af of de PVV het onderwerp asiel ook controversieel wil laten verklaren. Dat wil Wilders niet: “Alle wetten (van Faber, red.) die nu in de Kamer liggen moeten zo snel mogelijk behandeld worden.”
Jetten denkt dat Wilders niet meer in centrum van de macht zal komen“Wie gaat na deze rampzalige week nou ooit nog met u samenwerken?”, vraagt Jetten aan de PVV-leider. Het is een vraag die veel mensen in Den Haag bezighoudt. NSC-leider Nicolien van Vroonhoven heeft gisteren gezegd dat ze dit in de toekomst niet meer wil. Timmermans riep net de VVD op om een nieuwe samenwerking met Wilders uit te sluiten.
“Dat is niet aan u. Niet aan ons. Dat is aan de kiezer”, reageert Wilders.
Wilders bedankt de PVV-bewindsliedenIn een debatje met D66-leider Rob Jetten neemt Wilders de tijd om de PVV-bewindslieden die gisteren ontslag hebben genomen te bedanken. “Ik ben trots op onze bewindslieden. Het zijn er negen, die zitten nu thuis. Dat hoort bij de politiek, maar ik wil ze via hier bedanken voor wat ze hebben gedaan voor mijn partij en het land.”
De bewindslieden van VVD, NSC en BBB zullen de komende tijd het werk van de vetrokken PVV’ers waarnemen. Ondertussen zal worden gezocht naar vervangers die demissionair toetreden tot het kabinet.
DENK zoekt confrontatie met PVVStephan van Baarle (DENK) is het eerste Kamerlid dat in debat gaat met Wilders. De twee zoeken elkaar vaak op tijdens debatten; ze zijn immers flinke tegenpolen. Wat volgt is een debat over vooral de islam in Nederland.
Wilders: ‘Coalitiepartners hadden 100.000 smoesjes’In zijn bijdrage herhaalt Wilders in eerste instantie het tienpuntenplan dat aanleiding gaf tot de val van het kabinet. De grenzen moeten dicht voor asielzoekers, hij wil een stop op gezinshereniging en de azc’s moeten dicht. Hij herhaalde ook wat hij gisteren al zei: zijn fractie wilde niet “tekenen voor de ondergang van Nederland” omdat zijn ex-coalitiepartners niet meteen wilden tekenen voor zijn plannen. “Ze hadden daar 100.000 smoesjes voor”, vindt Wilders. “Eerst uitzoeken, plannen uitwerken… Complete onzin.”
Timmermans hoopt dat VVD niet meer met PVV wil regerenGroenLinks-PvdA-leider Timmermans heeft het over “een einde van een treurspel”. De reden dat het kabinet is gevallen is wat hem betreft duidelijk. “Als er moeilijke beslissingen moeten worden genomen, dan geeft Wilders niet thuis.” Timmermans refereert aan 2012, toen Wilders besloot het toenmalige kabinet niet meer te gedogen en bezuinigingen niet voor zijn rekening wilde nemen.
Hij hoopt vooral dat de VVD in de toekomst de PVV weer uitsluit, zoals oud-VVD-leider Rutte jarenlang deed. “Ik hoop dat je duidelijk wilt verklaren dat het niet in het landsbelang is om iemand tot de macht toe te laten die alleen zorgt voor verlamming”, zegt Timmermans tegen VVD-leider Yesilgöz. Timmermans kreeg geen enkele interruptie.
Yesilgöz was gisteravond bij maar liefst drie talkshows te gast en kreeg deze vraag geregeld. Maar de VVD-leider wil daar nu nog geen antwoord op geven.
Schoof wil door met onder andere veiligheid en hersteloperatiesIn zijn verklaring gaat Schoof ook in op de onderwerpen die volgens hem gewoon moeten doorgaan, en dus volgens de Kamer ‘controversieel’ verklaard kunnen worden. Dat is in principe aan de Kamer, maar volgens Schoof is het belangrijk om wel gewoon besluiten te blijven nemen over veiligheid (denk aan de steun aan Oekraïne en de uitbreidingsplannen van Defensie in Nederland), handelstarieven en hersteloperaties zoals die rond het toeslagenschandaal en Groningen.
Schoof herhaalt in verklaring: val kabinet ‘onnodig en onverantwoord’Schoof neemt het woord. Hij vat eerst samen wat hij gisteren heeft gedaan. “Laat ik duidelijk zijn: de val van het kabinet was wat mij betreft onnodig en onverantwoord.” Volgens hem is meer dan ooit besluitvaardigheid vereist, gezien de situatie in de wereld. Tot nu toe lijkt zijn verklaring veel op de verklaring die hij gisteren aan de pers gaf.
VVD, NSC en BBB woedend op PVVOnnodig en onverantwoord: die woorden werden gisteren vaak gebruikt. Niet alleen door de oppositiepartijen, maar ook door de oud-coalitiegenoten van Wilders. Zij waren enorm boos dat de PVV’er de stekker uit de coalitie trok.
VVD, NSC en BBB gaven namelijk aan óók strengere asielmaatregelen te willen en Wilders de ruimte te geven zijn plannen uit te werken. Overigens is het twijfelachtig dat al zijn plannen uitvoerbaar zijn: experts hebben al vaker gezegd dat bijvoorbeeld de gewenste asielstop juridisch gezien niet mogelijk is.
In het kort: wat is er gebeurd?De directe aanleiding voor de kabinetsval was eigenlijk vorige week al, toen PVV-leider Geert Wilders zijn zogenoemde tienpuntenplan presenteerde. Wilders wilde namelijk meteen extra asielmaatregelen nemen en wilde daarvoor een handtekening van zijn coalitiegenoten VVD, NSC en BBB.
Die gingen daar niet in mee: ook zij willen strengere asielmaatregelen, maar Wilders kan die gewoon zelf uitwerken en via de normale weg (dus via de Kamer) indienen. Het was voor Wilders reden om de coalitie gisterochtend op te blazen, waarna de inmiddels demissionaire premier Dick Schoof het ontslag van zijn kabinet die middag aanbood bij de koning.
Yesilgöz is not yet sure whether she would work with the PVV again A frequently asked and, according to Yesilgöz, logical question: does the VVD want to work with the PVV again? Yesilgöz cannot answer that yet. “I don’t have the answer for you yet,” she says to CU leader Mirjam Bikker. The fall of the cabinet is still too recent, according to Yesilgöz. “We have to think carefully about this together and weigh it carefully. That is honestly where I stand.”
Yesilgöz has no regrets“I have absolutely no regrets about entering the right-wing cabinet. This was my only chance to get policies done that GL-PvdA would never have supported. What we agreed on paper was exactly what the voter at home was waiting for.”
The VVD leader also says several times that it is up to the voters which parties will be the largest in the future.
Yesilgöz: ‘The fall of the cabinet was about someone looking for a way out’JA21 leader Joost Eerdmans is looking for the answer to the question of whether the fall of the cabinet could have been prevented. Couldn’t Yesilgöz have signed anyway, so that Wilders would have to work out his asylum plans himself afterwards?
“That would have been fine if Wilders had been willing to give a little more about what he meant per point,” says Yesilgöz. According to the VVD member, it is “useful to hear more than one line if you have ideas.” But the coalition didn’t get that far. “At the beginning of the week it became clear to me: this is not about the content, this is about someone looking for a way out.”
Yesilgöz hopes that Parliament will want to discuss asylum lawsThe VVD leader wants to “avoid stagnation” and calls on Parliament to continue the “right-wing liberal policy.” In particular, she wants to continue with the asylum laws of outgoing minister Marjolein Faber. Yesilgöz fears that there may no longer be a right-wing majority after the elections.
PVV, NSC, CDA, BBB, SGP and JA21 also want to continue with the asylum laws. This means there is a parliamentary majority. It concerns the laws on a two-status system and other stricter asylum measures.
Yesilgöz directly attacks WildersThe VVD leader has just taken the floor. She begins her contribution with a sneer at the PVV. “Wilders is abandoning the Netherlands. In unprecedented uncertain times,” she says. Yesilgöz accuses Wilders of running away and calls his decision “immature.”
Van Baarle: Upcoming elections are decisiveAs expected, DENK leader Stephan van Baarle is fierce in his contribution. He has accused the Schoof cabinet of racism since its inception. He repeats that point of view. He is happy that the cabinet has come to an end and calls the upcoming elections “decisive.”
PvdD critical of CDA’s constructive attitudePvdD leader Esther Ouwehand then addresses Bontenbal about that constructive attitude. Because if the party values democratic ethos so highly, why does he support a cabinet that attacked that democratic ethos?
Bontenbal points to the dilemmas: “Every faction meeting we talked about it: what do we support, what do we not support. When is it enough for us. I think we have made honest and honest choices.” The CDA member emphasizes that he would do exactly the same again now.
CDA will adopt a constructive attitude to asylum measuresCDA leader Bontenbal summarizes the fall of the cabinet as “irresponsible and reckless.” As far as he is concerned, this mainly applies to the PVV. “But the VVD also played an important role,” says Bontenbal. Because according to him, the liberals also brought down the cabinet two years ago on migration and there was also a war in Ukraine at that time. Bontenbal is once again talking about “decent politics.” That is now his hobbyhorse.
The CDA will adopt a constructive attitude, Bontenbal promises. Also with regard to the asylum laws that still have to be sent to the House of Representatives. It is questionable whether that will still happen now that the cabinet has fallen.
Bontenbal resolutely dismisses Wilders’ accusation that his party was opposed by the other coalition parties and the opposition. Asking questions about cabinet proposals is the most normal thing in the world, he says. Even if there are about seven hundred of them, as with the asylum plans of former minister Faber.
Dassen: ‘Is the flirting with the extreme right over now?’Volt leader Laurens Dassen immediately addresses the VVD in his contribution. “Under the leadership of keyboard warrior Wilders, made possible by VVD leader Yesilgöz, the Netherlands became less green, less fair and less safe. My question is simple: Ms. Yesilgöz, is this flirting with the extreme right over now?”
A remark about cultured meat is causing a stir in the plenary hall. Dassen is taking a lead on his party plans by indicating that in the future Volt would like to see “every member of parliament eat cultured meat, because it is just as tasty.” But eating cultured meat does not seem to be met with much enthusiasm among the members of parliament present.
Jetten relieved: ‘Wants to remove cuts in education’After the fierce debate between Wilders and Van Vroonhoven, it is D66 leader Jetten’s turn. Relief predominates for him. “Because the cuts in education can be removed,” he says. According to him, there is also room for a better climate policy and building houses.
But he also directs his arrows at Wilders’ coalition partners. “He hasn’t changed,” Jetten says about Wilders. “He chooses the easy way out when things get difficult. What should have been a right-wing dream flight turns out to be a fata morgana.” At the term fata morgana, VVD leader Yesilgöz conspicuously rolls her eyes as a sign of disapproval. Jetten receives no further interruptions and can therefore sit down again after four minutes.
Wilders to Van Vroonhoven: ‘You have made us terribly crazy’NSC member Van Vroonhoven interrupts Wilders because he just said that the NSC ensured that the emergency law for asylum became an emergency law. “We were able to prevent the law from being rejected in the Senate,” she says. “Do you agree with me then?”
But Wilders immediately seizes his chance to turn it into a fiery debate. “You have made us terribly crazy. And I say that kindly, because you are not unkind. But politically speaking, your group is a disaster.”
The two former coalition partners then have a discussion about how the crisis surrounding the emergency law went last winter. Wilders accuses Van Vroonhoven of “beheading the emergency law.” Van Vroonhoven responds by saying that Wilders failed to demonstrate that there was a crisis.
“NSC could also stand for Dutch Sabotage Club,” Wilders sneers in response. Van Vroonhoven: “That is a personal attack. And that is precisely why working with you is so incredibly complicated.”
Eerdmans: Coalition parties also have election painJA21 leader Joost Eerdmans mainly expresses his disappointment about Wilders’ action. His party agrees with Wilders’ wishes in many areas, but finds it incomprehensible that the PVV member has stepped out of the coalition. “I understand your disappointment, but you were in a position to achieve something.” All coalition parties have also experienced election pain due to the cooperation, Eerdmans believes. “If you want to work together, you have to make concessions.”
Wilders emphasizes that he has really been “reasonableness itself.” For example, he did not become prime minister and the asylum emergency law was crossed out.
Bikker underlines that only one thing counts for WildersMirjam Bikker (CU) finds it regrettable that Wilders has brought down the cabinet because he “didn’t completely get his way on one point.” She wonders what has happened to all the other plans, such as in the area of healthcare. Wilders’ answer is crystal clear. “Of course the rest is also important. But reducing asylum is our most important point. Many people have chosen us mainly for that reason.”
Dijk to Wilders: ‘You are Rutte V’SP member Jimmy Dijk mainly uses his interruption of Wilders to make points that his party considers important. Wilders has disappointed his voters, Dijk believes, who mainly points to the people “in the neighborhood” who were waiting for the abolition of the excess and a better distribution of asylum centers across the wealthier municipalities.
“If you become the biggest and you have the power, then do something with it,” says Dijk. “You are Rutte V,” referring to Wilders’ complaint that if this cabinet were to become “Rutte V,” the PVV would step out.
Wilders: Support for Ukraine remains fully in place after the fall of the cabinetWilders, like outgoing Prime Minister Schoof, emphasizes that support for Ukraine “remains fully in place.” This may be considered remarkable, because Wilders often questions this aid. For example, by demanding that just as many billions of euros go to purchasing power as to support for Ukraine. This turned out to be unfeasible.
Wilders has also expressed sympathy for Russian President Putin and has warm ties with pro-Russian politicians abroad, such as Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán. But Wilders emphasizes: Russia is “the aggressor” in the war with Ukraine.
Baudet (FVD) sees an opportunity and attacks WildersThierry Baudet is not often seen in the plenary hall, but seizes his chance in this debate. The leader of Forum for Democracy (FVD) believes that Wilders has failed and criticizes the fact that the Distribution Act has not been withdrawn. “Who was to blame for that? Faber has not gotten the ministry under control in the past year,” he says to Wilders.

Timmermans and Wilders clash again: ‘You are a disgrace’Timmermans interrupts Wilders. He wants to know how the PVV member can stand up for Ukraine and at the same time appear at a conference with “Putin friends.” Wilders was at an international conference last weekend with, among others, Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán and Alice Weidel, the leader of Alternative für Deutschland. “Are we dealing with two Wilders?”, Timmermans wants to know.
But according to Wilders, Timmermans’ description is not correct. According to him, there were Israeli officials and Polish parliamentarians who could drink Putin’s blood. “Nonsense,” says Wilders about the accusation that he was camping with “friends of Putin.”
It turned unfriendly between Timmermans and Wilders when it came to the war in Gaza. The PVV leader supports Israel through thick and thin. Even now that there is more and more talk of genocidal violence by the Israeli army. According to Timmermans, Wilders is therefore “a disgrace” to the Dutch parliament. Wilders in turn calls Timmermans “an anti-Semite.”
Wilders wants to continue with Faber’s lawsSGP leader Chris Stoffer asks Wilders about which topics he believes decisions should still be made about. He mainly wonders whether the PVV also wants to declare the topic of asylum controversial. Wilders does not want that: “All laws (from Faber, ed.) that are now in Parliament must be dealt with as quickly as possible.”
Jetten thinks Wilders will no longer come to the center of power“Who is ever going to work with you again after this disastrous week?”, Jetten asks the PVV leader. It is a question that is on many people’s minds in The Hague. NSC leader Nicolien van Vroonhoven said yesterday that she no longer wants to do this in the future. Timmermans has just called on the VVD to rule out new cooperation with Wilders.
“That is not up to you. Not up to us. That is up to the voter,” Wilders responds.
Wilders thanks the PVV administratorsIn a debate with D66 leader Rob Jetten, Wilders takes the time to thank the PVV administrators who resigned yesterday. “I am proud of our administrators. There are nine of them, who are now at home. That is part of politics, but I want to thank them here for what they have done for my party and the country.”
The administrators of VVD, NSC and BBB will take over the work of the departed PVV members in the coming period. In the meantime, replacements will be sought to join the cabinet on a demissionary basis.

Wilders: ‘Coalition partners had 100,000 excuses’In his contribution, Wilders initially repeats the ten-point plan that led to the fall of the cabinet. The borders must be closed to asylum seekers, he wants a stop to family reunification and the asylum centers must be closed. He also repeated what he said yesterday: his group did not want to “sign for the downfall of the Netherlands” because his ex-coalition partners did not immediately want to sign for his plans. “They had 100,000 excuses for that,” Wilders believes. “First find out, work out plans… Complete nonsense.”

He mainly hopes that the VVD will exclude the PVV again in the future, as former VVD leader Rutte did for many years. “I hope you want to clearly declare that it is not in the national interest to allow someone to come to power who only causes paralysis,” Timmermans says to VVD leader Yesilgöz. Timmermans received no interruptions.
Yesilgöz was a guest on no fewer than three talk shows last night and was regularly asked this question. But the VVD leader does not want to answer that yet.
