Leonard Lauder, former CEO Estée Lauder, died at the age of 92

The former CEO of cosmetics company Estée Lauder passed away on Saturday. The company announced this on behalf of the family on Sunday. Leonard Lauder was 92 years old.

Lauder was the eldest son of the founders of the American cosmetics giant. In 1958, he joined his parents’ company and served for over sixty years as an innovator in the beauty industry, according to his son William P. Lauder, the current chairman.

“As a legendary brand builder, Lauder led the launch of many brands, including Aramis, Clinique, and Lab Series,” Lauder’s son continues. Even after stepping down as CEO in 2009, he remained closely involved with the company.

Leonard Lauder was also a lover and collector of art. He made significant donations from his collection to museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Lauder passed away in New York in the presence of his family.
