Lauren Sánchez had one of her 27 wedding dresses stolen during her three-day wedding with Jeff Bezos in Venice, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sela.
The couple got married last week on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Sánchez brought 27 dresses for the special occasion, but after the wedding weekend, she appeared to only have 26 left.
Several uninvited guests entered the party during the celebration. According to the Italian newspaper, there is also a suspected perpetrator who stole the dress. It is said to be a smartly dressed woman who attended the wedding ceremony in the basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore.
According to the Corriere della Sera, the woman walked through the metal detector and past security to take a seat in the church. The Italian police eventually tracked her down, but the dress was not (anymore) in her possession. After the police questioned the woman, she was allowed to go home.
Another dress of Sánchez’s is said to have been lost during the wedding party. The dress she wore from Dolce & Gabbana, inspired by a dress worn by Sophia Loren in the film Houseboat (1958), is said to have been torn and caught fire.
Earlier, it became clear that Bezos’ security was not entirely watertight when more people were present on the island than initially allowed. An anti-terrorism alarm was issued to remove all uninvited guests.
