A disruption in Spain is causing people in large parts of the country to have difficulty reaching the emergency number 112 on Tuesday. This is reported by telecom services on social media.
According to Spanish media, the problems arose after an update in the network of telephone provider Telefónica. Further details are currently unknown.
Spaniards have been reporting problems with fixed and mobile networks since 6:00 AM. The reports come from areas such as Barcelona, Palma, Madrid, Santiago, and Granada. Other regions in the country also have no or reduced connection.
Due to the problems with the 112 number, alternative numbers have been created in various regions.
Spain and Portugal were hit by a major power outage last month. It was caused by the failure of a number of distribution stations, but the cause has not yet been determined.
