Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll returns to the track in his hometown of Montreal. Aston Martin’s driver had to unsubscribe a week and a half ago at the very last moment for the Grand Prix of Spain.
Stroll had driven the qualification in Barcelona, but was bothered by his wrist. Aston Martin then announced on Saturday evening that Stroll would not start on Sunday. The team could no longer call a replacement.
This weekend the Canadian will be present again if he can ride in front of his own audience in Montreal. “I did everything to be fit on time,” says Stroll in a statement by Aston Martin.
“I feel good after the procedure on my wrist and I have already driven a few laps on the Paul Ricard circuit in France in preparation. Thanks for all your support, I will see you this weekend.”
Stroll starts the racing weekend in Canada as the number twelve of the racement. He has so far collected fourteen points, twelve more than teammate Fernando Alonso.
Last season Max Verstappen won the race on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. The reigning champion of the past four years is now in three place in the rankings, with 137 points. McLaren occupies the first two places, with Oscar Piastri (186 points) and Lando Norris (176 points).
