Lance Stroll drops out through wrist complaints at the last minute for GP Spain

Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll does not start on Sunday due to wrist complaints in the GP of Spain. His team Aston Martin announced this on Saturday evening.

Stroll has been suffering from his wrist for six weeks, Aston Martin says in a statement. “Those complaints come from an operation that he underwent in 2023. The medical team will see how they can restore this.”

Aston Martin can no longer call a replacement for the Canadian, because he still rode the qualification in Barcelona on Saturday. As a result, the race will start with nineteen drivers on Sunday.

Stroll has so far collected fourteen points in this Formula 1 season, good for an eleventh place in the rankings. A Grand Prix never won Stroll, but he has reached the stage three times.

The GP of Spain starts tomorrow at 3 p.m. Max Verstappen starts third, behind the McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
